Important Information
- Risk. You walk at your own risk. Our leaders will warn you of possible risks to safety such as crossing or walking on busy roads and lanes, broken stiles, poor quality paths and environmental conditions. Please listen to them.
- Clothing. Weather conditions can change the nature of walks. Check the local weather forecasts e.g on the Met Office or BBC Weather websites to ensure you have adequate clothing, footwear, sticks and drinks as appropriate.
- Animal risks. Please be aware that when walking in the countryside there are risks not normally found in an urban environment. When walking through fields with farm animals keep together and do not attempt to feed or pat any animal.
- Insect risks. Be aware that insects can cause discomfort and aggravate existing health and skin conditions. Ticks are now prevalent in long grass on parklands and forests with wild or semi-wild animals such as deer. If you suspect you have been bitten advise the leader for advice on identification and medical attention.
- Safeguarding. The Club has a Safeguarding Officer who is Frances Brady who can be contacted……
If you have any concerns about the actions of another member of the Club you should contact the Safeguarding Officer as soon as possible. - Young adults. Our walks are not usually suitable for young children. We accept young adults aged x to y on walks provided they are accompanied by their parent or guardian and the Safeguarding Officer has been notified beforehand.
- Liability insurance. The Club maintains Liability Insurance currently provided by Zurich Insurance.
