General Information about the Club

Our Club was formed by parishioners and Mass attendees working in the Moorgate area of the City of London. Members now live around the South East of England and some lead walks for us in their local areas. Members and visitors come from all around the globe, adding to the rich diversity of the Club.

The Club is run by a Committee and governed by a Constitution (currently being updated). The incumbent Parish Priest of St Mary Moorfields is normally Honorary President, and holds a deciding vote to protect the Catholic ethos of the Club.

General Information About Our Walks

  • Walk Details. We provide details and updates about our walks to Members on a regular basis. Every effort is made to ensure details are correct but these can change at short notice due to transport cancellations, engineering works, weather problems etc. Where possible we send messages by email or to mobile phones.
  • Distance. We show the approximate length of the walk and advise if there is the opportunity to leave or join the walk for those who cannot do the full distance.
  • Travel. Public transport is used to get to the start point of the walk and to return from the end point. These may not always be the same. Car drivers are welcome to meet us at the start of the walk but should check for parking arrangements in the area and at the local stations.
  • Ticketing. Walkers are recommended to purchase a railway Network Card for 1/3rd discounts on fares on most routes. This can be used in conjunction with the London Councils Freedom Pass and some other passes and tickets. Those living outside the London Boundary can travel free on most TfL buses with a Senior Bus Pass. Check with your local provider for validity.
  • Lunch breaks. On longer days a lunch stop is arranged at a pub or café ‘en route’ which also has toilet facilities. This will normally be one hour. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch but must not consume it on the premises. We will attempt, where possible, to find a suitable place outside and you are welcome to join the group inside after your meal. On some walks meals and drinks may be taken at the end of the walk.
  • Health. Please do not join the walk if you are not feeling well. If this happens on a walk alert the Leader immediately.
